People’s Participation in Clean Energy Fund Activities for Community Development Surrounding Kaeng Khoi Power Plant II

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to explore and compare the level of people’s participation in clean energy fund activities for community development surrounding Kaeng Khoi power plant II classified by demographic factors: gender, age, education attainment, occupation, period of living in community, status in the community and perception of development fund. The sample of this study included 350 people, living near Kaeng Khoi power plant II and a set of questionnaire with a coefficient reliability of 0.98 was used to collect data. The descriptive statistics employed to analyze obtained data were frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations. T – test and one way ANOVA with a .05 level of statistical significance were used for the hypothesis testing.
The results of this study were as follows: 1) The people’s participation in activities under the clean energy fund for community development surrounding Kaeng Khoi power plant II overall was at a low level. However, the aspects of benefit gain, planning and decision making, and implementation were at a moderate level. 2) The result of hypothesis testing showed that the people’s participation in clean energy fund activities was found different according to their different status in the community and different perception of the clean energy fund at a .05 level of statistical significance, whereas different gender age, educational attainment, occupation and period of living in community didn’t lead to the difference in people’s participation.
